Utility Companies have a Dig Safe Program Call 811

The utility companies have a program called DIG SAFE to prevent you from cutting your or your neighbor’s utility cables or gas line.

Calling 811 – What can I expect?

• Call 811 from anywhere in the country a few days prior to digging and your call will automatically be routed to your local one call center
• You’ll give the operator information about how to contact you, where you are planning to dig and what type of work you will be doing. Your quick conversation with the operator will last a few minutes
• Utility companies who have potential facilities in the area of your dig site will be notified about your intent to dig
• Each affected utility company will send a locator to mark the approximate location of your underground utility lines. This typically occurs within 2-3 working days. Click here to access specific information about North Carolina

When you notice a street light that is no longer working properly, here’s what you can do to get it “back online”. First, go out to the pole and write down the six digit number on the yellow ID plate. Architectural Approval for Roofs

Villas of Sun Valley Residents,
Several Villas of Sun Valley homeowners are having roof repairs or roof replacements made. Please remember that this type of work requires approval by the Architectural Control
Committee (ACC). The following is from the Architectural Guidelines.

‘Roof Replacement/Repair. In the event there is a need to replace individual shingles or the entire roof, the shingles must be of good grade, quality, and appearance. The shingles must be either composition (fiberglass) or architectural (sculpted) and must be the same color as those which were installed when the house was built.’

The primary issue that the ACC is concerned with is the color. We are trying to maintain the harmonious continuity of the neighborhood while providing some flexibility. We have approved several brands that match pretty well. If you choose one of these previously approved choices your request will be approved. If not, your request will have to be reviewed for approval which will take more time. Please allow enough time for the ACC to process your request. Thirty day review time is specified. In practice, it’s never taken 30 days, however filing a form the day before the job is scheduled will not work. Also, the contractor cannot file this request form for you since it requires the homeowners signature.
